October has flown by for us. We had a great Halloween with all the kids. It started with school Halloween parties on Thursday in each of their school classes. Then Friday afternoon all the kids were able to come to work and trick or treat there. There is a big atrium area in the middle of the building that they set up tables and let the kids come around and give them treats and goodies. Then Friday night the ward had a Halloween party and they go to trunk or treat. Then came Halloween on Saturday. We also carved pumpkins on Saturday. Each kid had their own. So, yes we have more candy then we know what to do with. But I have implemented what is called Dad tax, so I get to pick out any candy that I want from the stash, which usually amounts to a couple of reeses peanut butter cups, baby ruth bars, and blow pops. J

Some other notable things that are happening are Anna and Becca continue in gymnastics and Andrew is Karate. Corbin started playing basketball with the YMCA program, I am helping assistant coach. He had his first game on Halloween day. They are all having fun in their activities.

I am recovering well from my knee injury. I will probably have surgery to have the ACL repaired, hopefully I should be back to 100% by spring time.

Well I hope you all had a Happy Halloween and we look forward to seeing some of you for Thanksgiving.

Mike and Paula Nelson

The first one is Joseph at the Rain Gutter Regatta at pack meeting. His boat named Katherine took 6th place over all in the pack, he earned a cute ribbon.



The next pictures are of us at Anderson Farms where we went to pick our pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. Mike picked one for Katherine as well. We had a great time there.



Then there are pictures of the girls at their pre-school Halloween Party on Friday. They popped popcorn and then had a parade. It was really fun, the girls had a great time.



The picture of all of us together is at a Halloween party we were invited to at someone's house. We all dressed up and had a great time.



Then the last picture is from last night at the ward trunk or treat.

Reed and Summer Romney

October has been a fun-filled beginning of fall for us. We went to Stahlei Farm, a local family farm where they have a petting zoo, pumpkins, a slide that drops the kids into a huge pit of dried corn, and a corn maze. It was lots of fun. Dallin could've spent the entire time on the slide and he loved falling into the corn. We left with animal poop on our shoes and corn in our socks...but we had fun!

We carved pumpkins later in the month but unfortunately they went bad within a week and we weren't able to have them on our porch for Halloween. (Yes, it's still in the 70's here in St. George!)

We survived Halloween...and hopefully without many cavities! Dallin was "Luke Skywalker as a X-Wings pilot", Avery was Chewy, Reed was George Lucas, and Summer was Teresa Eckert (sound editor for Star Wars...meaning she didn't really dress up!) Our ward had a dinner and a trunk-or-treat at the church pavilion and parking lot. After about 3 minutes of trunk-or-treating Avery totally grasped the concept of Halloween and LOVED it! She walked around the entire time with a roll of Smarties in each hand and a big smile on her chocolate-covered face. Dallin was thrilled to see that another boy in our ward was dressed up as Darth Vadar so they had a little light-saber duel after the dinner. (Dallin won.)
