Spiritual Thought from Grandpa

Success and Happiness is a Journey not a Destination. Several talks in the October General Conference reminded us that we should focus on the basic things in life and enjoy the journey along the way. I have encouraged all the families in the last couple of months to always have family home evening, family and personal prayer, attend church, be kind to each other, and keep all the commandments. Here is a quote from Joseph Smith, Jr. on this topic:"Happiness is the object and design of our existance; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is VIRTUE, UPRIGHTNESS, FAITHFULNESS, HOLINESS, AND KEEPING ALL THE
COMMANDMENTS OF GOD." "In obedience there is joy and peace - and as God has designed our happiness - He never has - He never will - give a commandment to His people that is not calculated in its nature to promote that happiness which He has designed."

Please review this quote and the following scripture with your families during the month of November. Alma 41 - "Wickedness Never was Happiness" Again your mother and I express our love and thankfulness to each of you for your devotion to the family and to the teachings of the Church.
